I am professionally trained and fully qualified, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Relationship Therapy from Relate, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Sussex, and a degree in Philosophy.

My private practice is in Hampton (near Teddington).  I am also an Assistant Professor at Richmond American International University in London.  I have been in private practice for nearly ten years, and worked for Relate as a psychotherapist for several years before that, in their Kingston Centre.

I am trained in several therapeutic approaches, including, psychodynamic, systemic, and CBT.  I believe the most important aspect of counselling is a friendly, relaxed and supportive relationship between the client and counsellor, based on trust and confidentiality, so I offer a free first session to check you’re comfortable working with me.

I write, publish and lecture on relationships and desire. I recently gave a paper at the University of Vienna entitled ‘Reconsidering Desire: The Multi-Disciplinary Imperative. You can read my paper 'The Romantic Myth of Making Love' which I delivered at the 2018 UKCP annual conference. You can also read some of my other online articles. Please follow me on LinkedIn and Twitter and read my Blog on counselling and relationships.

I abide by the ethics of the BACP, am in professional supervison, continuous professional development, and am fully insured.

I am married with two children, and I’m a jazz pianist.

Please feel free to ask me anything about my background, experience or training.
