ED Is a solution? — !

Most psychosexual work still treats lost or low desire mechanically: identify the block, remove it, and desire will resume. It rarely works.

A Lacanian-adjacent view would say desire isn't simply inhibited in these cases — it's structurally unstable by nature. Desire can't

achieve its object without extinguishing itself. If we "have" the object of desire, we lose our desire in the having. Love and desire come apart — not by accident, but by design. And all desire can make us anxious.

Symptoms like erectile dysfunction are frequently the body's own solution to this instability, not a malfunction of it. Our task is to treat the symptom as the solution to a problem, not as if it were the problem itself.

The patient has attempted a cure — but at a cost.

Our job is to make that attempted cure conscious. Then, other possibilities emerge, and the symptom may become redundant.
